Trace wrapped up his last season in Coach Pitch last week. His team started off so strong, wavered during the mid-season a bit, but ended with a few wins and in 3rd place.

We got the call after closing ceremonies that Trace made All Stars! June is going to be a busy, busy month! Practice a few times a week, two prep tournaments and the All Star tournament. Whew...

Kinsey with Coach Brad

We played at 11:30, 3:00, and 6:45. So what do you do between games? Well, we went to Fuddruckers and watched baseball and softball on tv.

And, of course, video games.

Kid-isms

Sunday morning Chad was channel surfing and stopped on a baseball game. Here's the conversation about that...

Kinsey: "Dad, do we have to watch baseball?"
Chad: "What do you want to watch?"
Kinsey: "Football."
Chad: "I love you."


With five weeks left in this, my very last pregnancy, Kinsey says to me, "Want me to rub your back so your feet don't get fatter?"


As I was typing this post I realized that I don't have any funny little kidisms from Trace. I guess that's because he is old enough now to realize that if he says something really funny that it's fair game, so he keeps all of it to himself. Also, he'd kill me if I did post something embarrassing that he said.

Craw-fishing

We got a few inches of much needed rain earlier in the week and had quite a few crawfish holes pop up in the yard, so Chad took the kids out with string and some bacon. Both kids swore they had bites, but couldn't get those little critters up out of their holes. I think we waited a few days too long to try and catch anything, but the kids had fun.

 

Bieber Fever

Our (original) youngest child turned 6 at the end of March and Trace will be 9 in a few weeks. Originally, I intended to have one big skating party for both kids, but all of a sudden, Kinsey didn't want a skating party anymore, so we're trying like mad to squeeze in two smaller parties between baseball, softball, holidays and also before the new youngest child makes her arrival.

Kins settled on a Justin Bieber sleepover with a few friends. From the swingset to the trampoline to bedazzling flip flops to the playroom upstairs to dress up to the rope swing, they played so hard and so well together. I never heard a single argument. And from five 6 year old girls, I think that's amazing!

Third Grade Field Day

Trace only has 5 more days of school left. Now that TAKS is over, they have had either a field trip or field day once a week. They worked so hard during the year that they definitely deserve it! I went to his field day for a couple of hours. The kids had a fantastic time.

Snaggletooth

Excuse the poor photo quality. This was taken with my cell phone. She is, after all, the second child. Poor little baby 'Daisy' will probably be lucky to get her picture on this blog in her first year.

Last Thursday, Kinsey lost her first tooth! Well, in reality, she PULLED her first tooth. On her own. At school. She said that she was in the cafeteria at lunch and tried to pop it out by eating a cheeseball, but that didn't work. So she just pulled it.

At first I was surprised that she did it herself, but after I thought about it, of course she pulled it herself.

That's just the kid that she is.

Softball Closing Ceremonies

Last night was closing ceremonies for the softball league where Kinsey plays. She was very excited to get her trophy.

About 9:00 last night we got a phone call telling us that Kinsey had made the All Star Team! This is very exciting, especially because she didn't even want to play until we were registering Trace and my friend, Alyssa, talked her into it. Maybe I should have said "friend".

Oh, I blamed Alyssa for a while. When I made Kinsey list the reasons she wanted to play, the main one was that she wanted a big trophy. And she wanted to work for it.  ???  This coming from the girl who sat out half of soccer practice in the fall because she was hot. So you understand why I was skeptical.

I'm not going to lie, there was a time I considered going to AAA Trophy and ordering her a girlie girl trophy and saving the time and money that we were sure to spend this season. I'm feeling a little guilty for that now.

So my relief at no more sitting in the 90 degree heat at the softball fields while I'm almost 9 months pregnant is now dashed. At least her next game is an evening game!

I have wanted pictures of my kids in a field of bluebonnets since before Trace was born. They are now (almost) 9 and 6 and we finally got some! It seems like every year we make plans to go on a Saturday and then someone falls and gets a giant cut or bruise or black-eye, so we wait for the next year. I took the kids after school today, completely prepared to get frustrated as I do every time we take pictures. But I am so proud to say that they were FANTASTIC! I never had to fuss and they struck their own poses. The best part? We were done in 10 minutes. Turns out it's a good thing we were done so quickly because the family that lives behind the field is not so keen on people stopping and using their bluebonnets. I thought they were, so we just strolled right down the tree-lined driveway and took our pictures.

Ninety-One

Big Mama turned 91 on Valentine's Day. Everyone came in to help celebrate. Randy and Matt's coming was a surprise...One she is still talking about.
