It's Almost Hunting Season

Trace has decided he's ready to hunt this year. Chad's been waiting to hear those words for a couple of years. So this weekend we went to the camphouse and Trace shot a few rounds to get ready. He's really excited and shot VERY well!

His first shot this weekend. He was so proud of himself, and we were, too!

This has nothing to do with hunting season, but it's just as East Texas. They are racing lawn mowers.

Climbing the Rock Wall

The guys from Rock Solid Character were back at the primary school again this year. Kinsey was very excited about giving it a shot. She is in the front row, second from the right, in grey pants.

I don't have a still shot of her at mid-climb because I was taking video, so hopefully her teacher got one.

Here she is with Nathan. She absolutely adores him. He is blind and she has learned so much from him. She came home from school one afternoon and told me that she had learned about British that day. I asked what that was and she answered, "The stuff Nathan uses to read since he can't see." OOOOOOhhhh...braille.

Here she is taking pictures. There's always at least one of herself.

This is the third year I have watched the kids climb that wall. I finally conquered my fear today and gave it a shot. I made it about halfway up the 25 foot wall. When I got back to the ground my legs were shaking. Even though I've been running for the last few weeks, I was not prepared for this!

Carving Pumpkins - 2010 edition

I know this post is a little out of order, but it's a big, giant pain to move the pictures around. The first 4 shots are of the completed pumpkins. The rest are of the carving itself.
Trace chose the sign of the Jedi Order for his pumpkin.

Kinsey's says 'Trick or Treat'.

We started carving pumpkins tonight. I say started because Kinsey chose the most difficult pattern in the book and someone (Chad) will have to work on hers tomorrow evening.
I spend 99% of my time behind the camera, so the kids took a few tonight. Yep...this is one of them.

I only included this one because I had to laugh when I saw Macy's chest actually dragging the grass. And it's been recently mowed.
"Uh, gross!" When I told her to put down the plastic scoop and use her hands, no kidding, she said, "But my nails!" That explains the next two pictures.

Dad came to the rescue. There's only so much gunk a girl can take.

Both kids were very intent on doing as much as possible by themselves. Well, after the gross part was done. Last year, Trace was grossed out by the guts and Kinsey wasn't phased a bit. Tonight, Trace jumped right in and didn't mind getting his hands dirty.

We had a busy Saturday morning...soccer game, soccer game and a dance performance. It was an absolutely gorgeous morning.

Trace played so well today! The game ended 0-0, but it was a good one to watch.
Trace's game was first, so Kinsey got in a little 'work'.


After soccer, Kinsey changed clothes in the car and we were off to the Heritage Festival where the students at her dance studio performed a clogging routine. On the way there, we realized there was only one clogging shoe in her dance bag...oops. So we raced home, got the shoe and made it to the performance with time to spare!
