Breathing Treatments

What do you do when it's springtime in East Texas? Breathing treatments. We love living in the Piney Woods, but we could do without all the pollen. The big kids have puffers they use when breathing gets a little tough, but poor Kendall has to use a nebulizer.

She's not a fan.

For the grandparents: You will not like the next picture. But I can assure you no one was harmed in the making of this production.
She wiggled herself into this position by the end of the treatment. She didn't cry as much as the other kids did when they were babies, but she was definitely harder to hold onto!
But we were still friends when it was all over.
True to form, our photographer couldn't resist jumping in front of the camera.

Trace's Rifle Competition

Trace tried out for and made the 4-H Rifle Team this year. They practiced for a few months for their district competition in April. Here he is getting set up and ready to shoot. He shot a .22 rifle at a target 25 yards away. We are so proud of how well he did. His team won first place!

They painted their fingernails on their trigger fingers. They chose bright pink and they were so proud of it!

This is what baby sisters do while waiting (a long time) for results.

Kendall is 10 months old

Kendall turned 10 months old on April 9th.

She has taken a couple of steps on her own, but she really doesn't seem to be interested in walking at all. She really doesn't need to walk because there is always someone around to pick her up and take her wherever she wants (or doesn't want) to go! She has given up baby food and only wants what the rest of us are eating. Her top two teeth have come in, so she is no longer our little vampire! She has also started waving hello. It's pretty cute!

Easter

My three favorite people...all dressed up!

This was Kendall's first Easter. We had to wake her up because the big kids were itching to get outside and see what the Easter Bunny brought. He must have known that she wouldn't want any part of the wet grass and hid a few on the driveway for her.

Kinsey and Trace hunted eggs, too, but it was tougher to get pictures of them. They ran around the yard in a blur trying to beat each other to the next egg.

Kinsey's 7th Birthday

Kinsey turned 7 on March 31st. She absolutely loves hip hop dance so I hired a teenager to come over and teach the girls a little hip hop. The girls had such a great time!

I snuck upstairs and got a picture of them dancing.

I just had to include this one of the cutest baby sister!

Spring Break

During Spring Break, we took a quick trip to Shreveport. We stayed on the Boardwalk, visited an alligator farm, and spent a day at Sci-Port, an incredible science museum. Flat Stanley even came with us!

Trace thought he was too old to be photographed riding the carousel.

Kendall didn't love the carousel at first, but she warmed up to it after a little while.

In Our Own Backyard

We are lucky enough to have this in our backyard!
It is usually dry, but after a good rain, we have a nice little creek for a little while. When this happens, the kids like to float boats in it. On this day, their boats were empty lemonade bottles. It usually starts with the kids getting their feet a little wet in the ditch and it ends with them jumping in full force.

Once she graduated from her infant bathtub, she got most of her baths in the kitchen sink. She fit so well, and we were usually still feeding supper to the other two kids so it just worked out. If you look closely at her teeth, you can see that on the bottom she has the middle two, but on the top, her middle two have been a little slow to come in. She got the two just outside them first. The kids call her our little vampire.
